Wordsley previously lay in the far south of the historic boundaries of Staffordshire. Wordsley is most famous for its glassworks which were in full operation between the years of 1776 and 1930. In 2006 the shops at the junction of high street and Brierly Hill were cleared and a plan to build new houses was put in place. This plan has however caused concern that traffic will be increased on the high street.   

Victorian terraced housing, shops and glassworker cottages were also replaced by large housing estates built either in the 1960s modernist style or the 1990s Barratt style. Village buildings that were formerly considered to be fine relics of the Victorian and Edwardian era, such as the Wordsley Hospital and the Wordsley School of Art have also either already been replaced or plans are in place to do so.

With all the new housing developments being undertaken within Wordsley there has never been a better time to invest in the property market.
